🧮 1. WSPPF HCP Calculation
The Handicap (HCP) reflects your actual level in the discipline. It evolves after each official tournament based on your performance compared to the course Level.
🔹 HCP Adjustment:
- 🟢 –0.15 point for each stroke below your HCP
- 🔴 +0.05 point for each stroke above your HCP (capped at +0.5 per tournament)
- 📉 No lower limit = you can improve freely
⛳ 2. What is the “Level” of a course?
Each official course receives a Level: it is a reference value combining:
- Reference time in minutes
- Standard par, always set at 54 strokes for 18 holes
🔹 Level Formula:
Level = Reference Time (in minutes) + 54
🔸 Reference Time (in minutes):
Time = (Total distance in meters ÷ 70) + (Total elevation gain ÷ 10)
📘 Full Example
- Course distance: 1,820 m
- Elevation gain: 20 m
- Reference time = (1820 ÷ 70) + (20 ÷ 10) = 26 + 2 = 28 min
- Level = 28 + 54 = 82
🔹 Player case:
- Current HCP: 82
- Finishes course in 29 minutes with 54 strokes
- Total score = 29 + 54 = 83
➡️ They are +1 above their HCP
➡️ HCP increases by +0.05 point
✅ Summary:
- Your HCP = your total time + score, compared to the course Level
- Each minute of difference = estimated 0.6 point
- The system is flexible, fair and dynamic:
→ Fast improvement when performing well
→ Limited penalty on tough days
